Ribbon Cupcakes by Guest Design Team Member Marie Otake

Supplies:

3 in. Styrofoam balls

Cupcake baking cups
Ribbon
Glue Gun
Embellishments (Optional)

Ribbon Cupcake with a Swirl "Frosting"

Start off with putting a dot of glue at the center of the ball.

Loosely twist the ribbon and glue it halfway to keep the ribbon to stay put.
The looser you twist, the fluffier your "frosting" looks.

When you reach your initial starting point, glue the ribbon once more and start another row.

Repeat the last two steps until you have the top half of the foam ball completely covered.
Take the glue gun and glue around the ball directly underneath the ribbon.

Trim the bottom of the foam ball, so it creates a flat surface.

Place the ball in the cupcake liner and press lightly to adhere the liner to the foam ball.

Ribbon Cupcake with a Smooth "Frosting"

Start of by putting a dot of glue at the center of your ball.
Place your ribbon over the glued spot and stretch over the ball, gluing it down at the opposite side.

Repeat the last two steps, placing the ribbon directly next to the last piece. Continue until the top half of the ball has been completely covered.

Glue below the ribbon, around the ball.
Trim the foam so it is flat on the bottom.
Place in Cupcake liner.

Here are your Ribbon Cupcakes! Embellish it as you please! :)

Guest Designer Spotlight Marie Otake

Please welcome this month's Guest Designer, Marie Otake! Marie designs for May Arts and does amazing things with ribbon and paper crafts! We have asked her to share with us a ribbon tutorial tomorrow. But, today we have her telling us a little about what inspires her to create
I have been crafting for as long as I can remember, but didn't get into the passion of paper crafting until a few years ago. I started of with basic scrapbooking, onto card making, and now I have a full blown obsession.

I try to learn every aspect of crafting because I know it will be useful one day. I get my inspiration from everything around me. Sometimes, if you see me walking around, you may just see a random light bulb pop up on top of my head! I carry around a little notebook with me in case an idea pops up and I need to jot it down. I can be inspired by photos, occasions, products I see, or by other crafters!

I have a huge paper addiction, so I would have to say my favorite Craft Warehouse products are the papers!!
Make sure you come back tomorrow to see Marie's step by step Ribbon Cupcake Tutorial! You can also follow Marie on her blog and Facebook.
