Bringing in the New Year!
This week Craft Warehouse is welcoming the New Year with fun ideas to help encourage, get us organized, or just fun ways to motivate ourselves in 2013!
Our first idea was found via Pinterest by Heart 2 Home.
As you go through out your year and something good happens, write it down on a piece of scrapbook paper and place it in a mason jar. At the end of the year your jar will be filled up and you can read about the good that has happened through out 2013! A great way to be thankful!

Fiskars The AdvantEdge™ Punch System
NEW to Craft Warehouse stores is The AdvantEdge™ Punch System with large interchangeable border punch cartridges (sold separately) to add perfectly aligned decorative borders to paper craft projects. Unlike most border punches that require you to carefully move the paper, our slide-and-lock technology lets you keep the paper in one place and slide the punch cartridge from one lock-in slot to the next. This keeps every punch perfectly spaced along the edge of your paper, eliminating mistakes that waste craft paper!
When you buy the Advent-edge tool it comes with a starter cartridge- flower garden, and also includes an adapter plate to work with Fiskars smaller Interchangeable Border Punch cartridges (released last year). Craft Warehouse also has five different Advent-edge punches that are brand NEW!
Features
- Ideal for adding a perfectly aligned decorative border to large crafting materials
- Slide-and-lock technology lets you keep the paper in one place while the punch cartridge slides from one lock-in slot to the next for a perfectly aligned border
- Helps eliminate mistakes that waste costly craft materials and cause reworks
- Longer handle reduces punch force for easy use
- Punches larger, 2.75" border designs than any border punch on the market
- Magnetic paper clamp secures your paper
- Starter set includes “Flower Garden” border punch cartridge
- Works with a wide variety of Interchangeable Border Punch cartridges (sold separately)
- Includes an adapter plate to work with our smaller Interchangeable Border Punch cartridges
- Cartridges stack for space-saving storage and easy transport

10 Days of Ideas: A Fresh Wreath
You've got your tree (or are heading out to get it today!)... but save your money and create your own fresh wreath yourself using trimmings from your own tree... we'll show you how:
- Gather your supplies: you'll need green floral wire, a wreath form and wire
cutters.
- Cut tree trimmings or bough into small pieces and use floral wire to wrap
each piece of greenery around the wreath form, being sure to cover it
completely.
- Continue filling in bare spots with more greenery and feel free to mix it
up! Using more than one type of branch or trimming gives the wreath more
texture.
- Once the wreath form is completely covered and full of greenery, add a ribbon bow or other decorative accessories. Then hang on your front door or inside your home and take a deep breath... ahhhh. Enjoy!

Lawn Fawn & Doodle Bug Christmas Cards by Guest Designer Carisa Zglobicki
Carisa here and I'm thrilled to be back with my 2nd guest design post using Distress Markers! I actually squealed a little bit when I opened my package to find the adorable Making Frosty Friends stamp set by Lawn Fawn. I just ADORE snowman - all shapes and sizes! Anytime it snows, I'm begging to make a snowman in our front yard except it rarely happens that we get the "right" kind of snow to do so! LOL
Anyhow, I got out some watercolor paper and stamped the snowman with Archival Ink in black. Anytime you begin watercoloring, make sure you use a permanent waterproof ink like Archival or Staz-on. Then I just lightly went around one side of the snowman with Tumbled Glass Distress Marker and blended it out slightly with my water brush. Using a light blue is a great way to add just a little bit of dimension anytime you are coloring "white". Easy Peasy! These holiday cards are so quick and simple to put together yet your family & friends will think you took a long time since they are so cute.
On this card, I LOVED the Doodlebug Design Inc. North Pole 6x6 paper pad so much that I couldn't decide which papers to use so I didn't! I created a strip of paper with lots of little strips from the paper pad that I cut in a variety of widths and glued onto a piece of scrap paper then when I was happy I adhered it all as one piece to my cardstock. I stamped the snowflakes from the stamp set in VersaMark ink just for an added touch behind the snowmen. This is a great idea to use up scraps from your favorite collections as well.
Here is a close up of my image panel. I glued my larger snowman directly to my cardstock and then popped up the smaller one with some dimensionals. Again, how cute is this paper as I just HAD to paper piece some ear muffs and a scarf!
On my 2nd card, I again stamped the background with the small snowflakes and heart from the stamp set in VersaMark. This a great way to add extra texture to cards that you don't want to be too bulky for mailing. I just added a strip of the coordinating paper on the bottom. I LOVE this doodle twine by Doodlebug Designs Inc as you can see I used it on both my cards. You get 60 yards in the package in different colors that match the North Pole collection. LOVE it! For my sentiment panel, I went around the edge in Barn Door Distress Marker and then took my waterbrush and made it really wet to have it bleed in like water drips.
I colored my snowman on watercolor paper and cut to adhere to the card. Then I stamped the cute little birds twice on different pattern papers from the North Pole paper pad, pieced them together and popped them up where I had already stamped on the card.I also added some Doodlebug Design Inc pearls in the Christmas assortment as the snowman's buttons.
Thank you again, Craft Warehouse, for asking me back to guest design! I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
As always, happy coloring!!!

Echo Park Paper Cone Star Wreath by Holly Gagnon
Holly here, sharing a tutorial on how to make a Paper Cone Star Wreath.
I've made circular paper cone wreaths in the past but as a Guest Designer for Craft Warehouse, I needed to kick it up a notch especially since I received some cozy Echo Park Christmas This & That Collection Kit to play with.....Big Squeal!
Here's how:
Supplies Used
Cut a star out of chip board using an Xacto Knife. This will be the base of your wreath. I cut my star at 11 inches across. To make the cones, you'll need to cut a variety of patterned paper into 4x4 squares. To keep the cones symmetrical, I recommend using some sort of rolling tool, like a glue pen, fat marker, large dowel or any other tool that will do the job. This tip will be very helpful later on 'cause you don't want to have to many fatty and skinny paper cones when trying to make your wreath look symmetrical.
Keep on rolling and hot gluing them squares into cones. Ink the edges of the cones if desired. I ended up using 31 cones to complete my wreath.
Start hot gluing your cones on to each point of the star base first. It's helpful to tack on the cones with hot glue at first instead of a big blob of glue. This will make life soooo much easier later if you need to pull the cones off and rearrange them as needed.
Fill in the gaps with more cones, shaping the wreath into a star shape. Now aren't you glad you only tacked the cones on? Remember how I also mentioned to keep your rolled cones as symmetrical as possible? Now that you're filling in the gaps, to many fatty's or skinny's cones will throw off the balance. Don't ya just hate that?
Tah Dah! Did I kick it up a notch or what?
You know you're in love (well, I know I am at least) and you know ya wanna make one to.
Here's how:
Supplies Used
Echo Park - Christmas This & That Collection Kit (Love, Love, Looove!)
Chip Board
Star Template
Kraft Paper
Red 20 gauge wire
Brown and Red Inks
White Gel Pen
Hot Glue Gun
Glue Dots
3D Foam Squares
Xacto Knife
Rolling Tool

After you've arranged and tacked your cones on to each star point, turn the star over.
Voila!
I finished both sides of the wreath by covering the front and back with stars cut out of Kraft paper. When I started this project, I wasn't sure if I was going to use it as a tree topper, mantle piece or a hanging wreath.
I embellished the wreath with stickers from the kit, added faux stitching around the edges and for a little rustic shine, curled some red wire and stuck a few pieces along the edges and to use as the wreath's hanger.
The stickers in this kit are so warm and cozy. I'm totally in love with rustic Christmas and totally in love with the wood grain paper too...like totally! I didn't even want to cut it but I decided to sacrifice it up for the sake of the wreath and used to make another 9.5 inch star as the base mat.
Isn't that little pennant banner so cute? It's another cozy sticker selection along with some alpha's that spell Noel.
To finish up my wreath, I cut another 8inch star, inked the edges, embellished it with doily stickers, a matted Santa sticker and popped it up with a few 3D foam squares.
Thanks so much to the Craft Warehouse for having me as Guest Designer this week!
