Faux Chalkboard card making tutorial

CardMaking Tutorial

'Faux Chalkboard Card' featuring new collection from Echo Park called Victoria Gardens.

This card features the brand new collection Victoria Gardens scrapbooking papers.

Other supplies:
Spellbinders Nestablilities die set Lables Eighteen
Big Shot (or other diecutting tool)
White Gel Pen
white Button
White pearl sticker embellishments
White A2 size card
black cardstock
3 strands of bakers twine about 20" each
Martha Stewart butterfly punch, medium
Thickers foam alphabet stickers from American Crafts

To create the faux chalkboard label, select die cut size of choice and die cut on Big shot smooth black cardstock.
Use white gel pen to outline design and to write 'Just a' on front of die cut label.

Thread a white button with a short length of bakers twine and tie in a square knot on the front. Snip ends to desired length. Adhere to black chalkboard label with glue dot.
Select letters 'n' 't' and 'e' from thickers alphabet sheet and place on label- the white button is your 'o' .
The great thing about foam thickers is that they are reposition-able so you can move them and adjust them until you like where they are.

For the card layers:
Select 1 pattern paper for your background and cut to 4" x 5 1/4" and layer to card front
select 2 pattern papers for your border and cut one to 4" x 1" and the other to 4" x 1 1/2" and layer the smaller one to the larger. then wrap this with 3 strands of bakers twine and tie in a bow on front - off center. then layer this strip to card front.
then attach your prepared faux chalkborad label with foam dots to card front.

finally punch out a few butterflies from pattern paper and adhere to card front. Embellish with pearls.

This card was inspired by one designed for Pink Paislee by Rory Rumph. Here is her card. I just loved the way the black looked on bright colors, and who doesn't love bakers twine?!

  3. Thanks Ladies! You know, I am thinking this faux chalkboard idea might be really cute on kraft and red papers, with maybe a red gingam bow, for a back to school greeting, or card for teacher.
