Blog Candy for the Fourth

Make a cute key holder!

Check out how cute these key holders are.  BTW, obsessed with Glubers (the embellishment I used). Note to self...vinyl and live TV do not mix!  Yeah, it took the entire segment to peel off the vinyl (which wasn't cooperating).  Don't let that get to you though.  These key holders are fun!  You just need more than 4 minutes to create them!  :)

Mini Shadow box with a twist...

Loving the new My Minds Eye new collection!

Each frame comes unfinished and measures about 5x7. They are little mini shadow boxes!


On the boy frame I sprayed it with Tattered Angels "Jupiter" spray mist.







On the girl frame I used Tattered Angel "Key Lime Pie" Mist spray. I love using the sprays on unfinished wood because it gives you such a brilliant color!

Family Tree "Our Grandchildren"

Is your refrigerator filling up with photos? What a great way to keep photo's off your refrigerator....(it's also the perfect size for school wallet photo's)

The collection I used is by My Minds Eye called:

I used the 6x6 paper pad. It gives you a smaller print than the 12x12 sheets of paper.

To make the plate that goes on the front of the tree, I printed "Our Grand Children" on cream card stock and glued it on to the "Cheerful" die cut sticker.

Counting down to your birthday!

Our family seems to count down to every holiday and my kids love it, so I decided why not make a birthday count down calender?

Patriotic "American Made" Pin Wheel Wreath

Need something inviting for the 4th of July? I love this Pin Wheel Wreath and it's not just for the 4th it can be used throughout the year on your front door, on a mirror or hanging on a covered porch. This was so simple even your kids could make one!

I stared out with a Styrofoam wreath and wrapped it with strips of fabric (1/2 yard cut into 2 inch strips) Start by gluing your starting piece with the glue gun.

Once your Styrofoam is covered in fabric start making the pin wheels and securing them with brads. I made a combination of 2", 3" & 4" pin wheels.

After you make about 24 pin wheels, glue them to the fabric wreath.

I used my minds eye "American Made" paper collection to create the pin wheels and the die cut that says "Stars & Stripes....forever" and the brads came from Bo Bunny.

Last I cut out 3 pendents out of cotton fabric and stenciled the letters USA on the fabric.

I used a yard of Jute to clip on the pendents and cliped them with mini paper clips.

simple card tutorial - multi color stamping

mix ink color on your stamp before stamping for multicolor effect, and play with over stamping. Here is a super simple first step at these 2 techniques. Supplies: simple line image of your choice. I used this cling stamp from Hero Arts white cardstock to stamp on 3 or more colors of ink pads. I used Distress inks in red barn, lipstick stain, and spiced marmalade. Sentiment stamp of your choice black or dark color ink pad for sentiment cardstock for layering ribbon for embellishment foam or sponge for blending colors cardstock for card Required Tools: corner rounder Nestabilities dies (or layering punches) I used this set from Nestabilities by spellbinders called 'Labels 1' Die cut machine (like Cuttlebug or Big Shot) Step 1 Create card shape, and round all 4 corners Die cut layer color Step 2 apply lightest color of ink to one portion of stamp apply medium color of ink to another portion of same stamp- overlapping the first color a little apply darkest color of ink to remaining portion of same stamp- overlapping the first and second color areas a little 'huff' or breath on to the ink side of the stamp and stamp to white cardstock. try it a few time to see what different effects you can achieve with more or less of one color or another. Step 3 position stamped paper with die so the stamped image will be off center and die cut Step 4 Ink with black ink your sentiment stamp and over stamp on to your die cut stamped piece. Position your sentiment so it partially (or totally) falls on to your image stamped design. Step 5 Use one of your color ink pads from your multi color stamping, and foam or sponge to sponge and blend color around edges of your stamped and die cut piece. Step 6 fold ribbon in half to create a loop and glue in place on your color layer die cut add foam tape or pop dots to back of stamped die cut and position over ribbon and color layer glue to card front

Just a sneak peek of what you can do with Crafters Workshop Stencils...

"Family...the friends you meet along the way" was created by painting the base with acrylic paint. Then I placed the stencil over my frame. Then placed molding paste over the top of my stencil. After it was about 3cm high I lifted up my stencil and it left the design on my frame. Once the molding paste dried I painted it with white acrylic paint and attached my vinyl words.

This canvas I used the same technique as the 12 x12 frame. once the molding paste was dry I used tattered angel spray to give it the blue finish and the used Tim Holtz distressed ink.

This canvas was also the same technique with the molding paste. Then Sprayed it with Tattered Angel Sprays (Jazz Blue, Midnight Blue, Moonlight & Denim Blue) Last I added some flowers from our scrap booking department.

This was made by sanding down my canvas to remove and clear finish. Then I placed the stencil over the top and sprayed it with all different Tattered Angel sprays.

I started out with our already made canvas bags. Then placed the stencil over the top and stenciled the design on to the bag using Acrylic paint. To make the flowers I used my new favorite item called Glubers!






I love how this Shadow box turned out. It was so simple to Engrave on the glass using an engraving tool by Darice! It's battery operated and is safe for kids to use. It's hard to see in the picture but I took the glass out of this 8x8 shadow box and etched the clock stencil on the glass. It give it a 3-dimensional look....

This was created by appling molding paste to burlap...

Here again just stenciling on molding paste. After it's dry you can color it with ink pads.

Memory keepsake in a wood box

Why Frame it, when you can display your memories and treasures in a open wood box?

Instructions:

• I started with painting my unfinished box with green acrylic paint.






• Then I used the new KandCompany Around the world 12x12 paper pack, die-cut card stock and luggage journal tags to create my back ground.






• To glue down my paper and clear vellum die-cuts I used one of my new favorite all-purpose glues. You can't go wrong with this product. I used to be a fan of mod podge but this doesn't wrinkle or leave a shinny finish. It's a must have!!!
  

Once you get your papers glued to the box. I added some Tim Holtz curio knob, key and glass message bottle.

I took some twine and tacks to tack the twine into the box. Then attacted photos up using small clothes pins.
