• C2F- uniball signo white gel pen
• C2F- micron black pen
• Ranger- distress ink spun sugar
• Darice- foam blending pods
• OPTIONAL- Ranger- Stickels glitter glue-Diamond

Directions

1. Cut skin tone cardstock to 4 1/4” x 2”
    Cut red cardstock to 4 1/4” x 1 1/2”
    Cut white cardstock to 4 1/4 x 2 1/2”
    Cut white cardstock to 4 1/4 x 1”
Punch skin tone cardstock with 1” circle punch
Punch 2 black cardstock with 1” circle punch
Punch white cardstock with mustache/bow tie punch

2. Use a white 4 1/4” x 1” cardstock strip and use the Fiskars scallop edger to cut a decorative edge along 1long side of this strip- this will be the trim on Santa’s hat.

3. Fit the edged trim white cardstock, the punched out mustache, and the white 4 1/4” x 2 1/2” cardstock into the snowflake embossing folder all at the same time by arranging the pieces so they are not overlapping or hanging out the sides of folder. Then run through the Texture Boutique  to emboss.

4. Use 1 white A2 Card, 1 skin tone 4 1/4” x 2” strip cardstock, and 1 strip of red cardstock 4 1/4” x 1 1/2”. DRY FIT the skin tone strip, the red strip, and the embossed larger strip of
cardstock onto the front of the card before they glue- so they can see how it’s going to come together. Glue the red strip at the top of the card first. Then but the skin tone cardstock right up next to the red cardstock already on card and glue in place. finally layer the larger embossed snowflake white cardstock to bottom of card- this will overlap the skin tone layer a
little.

5. Use the 2 black circle punches, 1 skin tone circle punch and DRY FIT these along with the embossed mustache and hat trim. BEFORE GLUING the face in place- give Santa some color! Use foam blending pod to apply a little pink ink to the apples of his cheeks, and go ahead and dust one edge of the skin tone circle punch out with the pink ink as well. The black circles get adhered with tape runner. Placing them close together helps with the cute factor- wide set eyes will give Santa a
‘crazed’ look. Add the nose and mustache with foam tape.

6. Use tape runner to add embossed trim to hat. This may overlap the eyes slightly.

7. Apply tape runner to the 2nd piece of red cardstock 4 1/4” x 1 1/2 and lay this over the top left corner of card at an angle- this is to be the long pointed end of Santa's hat- so adjust into an elongated triangle. Turn card over and use scissors to cut away the excess red cardstock hanging over the edges.

8. Finish- Glue dot a pom pom to end of stocking hat. Use black micron pen to add lashes, and use white gel pen to add highlights on eyes, and a couple of white freckles in the pink cheeks.

9. OPTIONAL- Add Stickels glitter glue here and there on embossed snowflake areas.

Lawn Fawn Sending Hedgehugs Card

There is nothing like getting a handmade card! Handmade cards are something different. After all, what makes a more beautiful keepsake than a personalized handmade holiday card? This darling hedgehog card will make anyone that you send it to smile!

Coloring Technique: Coloring images in with color pencils first- using a medium to heavy pressure and color in small circles. This will lay down your base color- and give a slightly waxy coat. Then use Tombow brush markers in same colors to layer over the top- the marker glides over the waxy build up allowing you to blend the marker with the pencil resulting in a blended finish that has depth. It’s fast, easy, and satisfying!

4. Use a piece of white cardstock 3” x 2” and stamp the 2 different hedgehogs with black Versafine ink. Then color. First use color pencils (medium-heavy presuure- pushing hard enough in small circles so that you get a sort of waxy build up) color bodies light tan, and the quill area in brown. Can add a little pink on ears/cheeks) Now take similar color tan Tombow brush marker and color over the color pencil in same shade. The marker will blend with the color pencil resulting in a blended finish that looks professional! Repeat with the brown color on the quill area.

5. Next, position the stamped images and dies to be die cut. Use slightly tacky washi tape to secure die in place before die cutting.

6. Use 1 white A2 card, and 1 each of the light and medium blue cardstock and layer to card front using tape runner. Then wrap a double length of red and white bakers twine around card and tie on front. Use scissors to trim ends.

Cuddle Throw Using Buckaroo

Silky soft Cuddle fabric resembles real mink in touch. It has a soft short pile that is as soft as cashmere. It is the ultimate fabric for making blanket from babies to adults!

Supplies:

8 strips, 5 1/2” x 30”, of Cuddle
5/8 yd Cuddle for outer borders
1/3 yd Cuddle for 2 1/2” border
1/4 yd Cuddle for binding

You will need to purchase fabric for backing.  We recommend 1-1/4 yards Cuddle

Directions:

Finished Size 45”x55”

Sew the Cuddle strips together in your order of preference.  The kit is designed to coordinate, so the order is purely your preference.

Trim the center of the quilt so that it is 30” wide.

Cut the 1/3 yard of border fabric into 4 strips each 2 1/2” wide.  Stitch the borders to the sides of the quilt first, and then to the top and bottom.

Cut the 5/8 yd of Cuddle into 4 strips each 5 1/2” wide.  Add to the sides first, and then to the top and Bottom.

Lay the quilt front and backing wrong sides together and pin liberally (insert batting if desired, but be sure to use a spray adhesive so it doesn’t slide).  Quilt “in the ditch” or as your prefer.
Cut the 1/4 yard of Cuddle binding fabric into 2” wide strips.  Seam these and add them to the quilt by stitching in a narrow seam, folding it over and under and then stitching down on the top or bottom side using a serpentine stitch.

HINTS: Use a walking foot and pin liberally — this fabric moves!  The use of batting is optional — two layers of Cuddle may be all that you want or need — it will be heavy.  We recommend a size 90 universal machine needle.  It  works well on the knit and is heavy enough to do the machine quilting to finish.

Gather Banner

There are so many ways to incorporate burlap into your decor. It is so easy to use too! Create this wall hanging that can stay up all season long!

Gather Burlap Banner @craftsavvy #craftwarehouse #burlap #fall #wallhanging #diy

Supplies:

·         ¾ yard of burlap
·         Fat quarter of fall fabric
·         Iron on word by Decorating Your Life
·         Buttons, leaves and other embellishments
·         ½” dowel, finials to fit the ends of the dowel
·         Americana Gloss Enamels Paint, brush

Directions:

I started with a 27” cut of burlap. I pulled a thread near the edge of each long side to get it straight.  Then I pulled threads from each edge to have ½” of fringe on each side.  Next I folded down 1½” from the top to form a casing and stitched it in place.  The burlap was creased and wavy so I heavily spritzed the entire piece with water, ironed it with high heat, leaving it to cool on a flat surface.  You could use heavy steam to do the same.  When it had cooled off, I cut the length off to make the banner 30” long.

Insert the dowel and determine your desired length.  Mark the length and saw it off.  Paint the dowel and finials.  Set aside to dry.

I cut a fat quarter of fall fabric down to a 15” square. Before I permanently adhere any of the items to the burlap, I place them where I want them and take a picture.  I spend a few minutes evaluating what I see in the photo, do some adjusting, take another photo, etc., until I’m happy with what I see.  With the extra burlap I cut out a pumpkin shape. I pinned it in place again auditioning the placement of it with a photo.  Using 6 strands of black embroidery floss, I stitched it in place using long stitches about 1/4”-1/2” from the outside edge of each pumpkin piece.   I stitched the square with the pumpkin into place on the burlap with a button in each corner.  You can fuse the cotton square onto the burlap with heat and bond ultra or glue it in place. I chose not to do that.  You could fuse the pumpkin onto the cotton fabric and draw your stitches on using a black marker.  If you opt to fuse rather than sew, remember it will take longer due to the rough, open weave of the burlap.

I fused the word “gather” onto the burlap following the manufacturer’s directions.  I did find it took more than the 1-2 minutes they said.  It was closer to 5 minutes, but keep an eye on it, checking the adherence every 30 seconds.

I chose to keep my banner fairly simple but you can decorate it with buttons, artificial flowers, more words, family names,-use your imagination!

You can hang this banner by tying a ribbon onto each end of the dowel, or have each end of the dowel setting into a hook or nail.

Gather Burlap Banner @craftsavvy #craftwarehouse #burlap #fall #wallhanging #diy
OPTIONAL: buy a half yard cut of burlap and cut your fabric square proportionally smaller.  Just remember that the size of your “gather” word (or whatever word you choose) needs to fit with a few extra inches of burlap on either side.  Your word and your fabric square should not be the same size.  Your eye is happier looking at things that aren’t the same size.  If they are, you can use a button, flower, etc. on either side of the word to make it look larger, as I did on the example.

Miss Kate Quilted Pillow by Design Team Member Jenifer Cowels

Thank you so much for joining me today.  I have such a fun project to share with you.  I was so excited when I opened my Craft Warehouse box and saw the wonderful goodies inside.  I received the cutest mini quilt pattern from Thimble Blossoms along with some Miss Kate by Bonnie and Camille for Moda Fabrics, now in Craft Warehouse stores!.  I couldn’t wait to get started.   After following the easy, clear pattern and having the cutest little mini quilt in my hands I was trying to come up with a different way to use it.  I don’t have very much wall space in my sewing room but I do have a couch.  So I made a mini quilt pillow to adorn my couch.

Supplies:
16”x16”-Pillow Form
Ric-Rac (optional)
Fat Quarter for the back
Directions for 16x16 pillow:
1.       Follow all of the Instructions for the mini quilt.
2.       Baste Ric-Rac along all 4 sides.  (optional).
3.       On the top and the bottom add a 1 ¼”sash and a 2” sash on both sides.  This will give you a 16 ½”x16 ½” square.
4.       Cut the Fat Quarter to 16 ½”x16 ½” for the back.
5.       Sew along 3 ½ sides, leaving an opening for turning.
6.       Turn and press.
7.       Insert the pillow form into the opening.
8.       Hand Stitch the opening closed.
And now you are done!
Here is a close up of the optional ric-rac, I love how it looks like a little scallop.
Here is a picture of the beautiful fabric for the back, I just love it.
I hope you have enjoyed my project today and I look forward to all of the wonderful inspiration from the Craft Warehouse team.

Craft Warehouse Design Team Member Jenifer Cowels

Welcome back Craft Warehouse Design Team Alumni Jenifer Cowels. Jenifer is our resident seamstress and quilter! Not only does she sew, she does paper crafting too! I can't wait for you to see the beautiful project featuring Moda Fabrics tomorrow! In the meantime, let's hear about what motivates her to create!

How long have you been crafting?

I have been doing some sort of crafting my whole life.  When I was growing up we didn't have much money so when my mom was at work I would sneak into her sewing room and cut up some sheets and make shorts to start out with then it grew from there.  Now I dabble in just about everything taking turns between paper crafts and sewing depending on my mood.

What inspires you to be creative?

Everything inspires me.  I love to watch my children draw and do art projects because they just go all out.  They haven't learned the "rules" yet, and they make the most wonderful things.  They are so willing to learn new things and they are not afraid to get their hands dirty even if it means making a mistake.

What Craft Warehouse products do you love to use?

I love going into Craft Warehouse and just walking through the store and looking at all the displays.  The projects are just so wonderful and they keep all the supplies handy so you don't have to search the store for the 1 thing you are looking for. I love the fabric selection they carry fabrics that I don't see at other local stores.

Make sure to visit Jenifer on her blog and then join us back tomorrow as she shows us a beautiful mini quilt tutorial!
